Coming from Arc
An Arc alternative for the Mac
The Browser Company announced on 22 October 2026 that Arc stops working on Mac and Windows on 22 December 2026. Verso is a smaller, quieter browser built on the same basic idea: tabs in a sidebar and Spaces. This page says what comes with you, what is different and what is missing.
01 Before Arc stops
Export what you need while Arc still works. Arc's own guide explains how.
02 What comes with you
- Vertical tabs in a sidebar, with pinned sites.
- Spaces, each with its own tabs and pinned sites and, if you want, its own cookie jar, so logins stay apart.
- A command bar (⌘T, ⌘L) that searches open tabs, history and the web from one field.
- File → Import from Arc… brings in your Spaces, pins, folders and history, read from Arc's files on your Mac.
03 What is different
- Verso runs on WebKit, the engine of Safari. Arc is built on Chromium, so a page written only for Chrome can behave differently.
- It is for the Mac alone, on Apple silicon. There is no Windows version and none is planned.
- No cloud AI and no account. The helpers run on your Mac through Apple Intelligence and switch off together.
- It does not copy Arc's look: the chrome sits on the system window material.
04 What is missing
Verso is a smaller browser than Arc was, and it is in alpha. Extensions from the Chrome Web Store run on WebKit and not all of them work; the extensions page says which. Do not assume a feature of Arc is in Verso unless this site names it. What is planned is on the road on the home page.
05 Try it
Download Verso, then choose File → Import from Arc…. It is free and needs macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon.
